CO2 removal from Natural gas in Ammonia Plant

CO2 removal unit in Ammonia Plant The raw material for the ammonia plant is natural gas. but unfortunately, many gas wells contain CO2 so that CO2 gas is very disturbing the process of making ammonia. In general, CO2 gas is discharged at the front of a factory or known as the front end process. Natural Gas will enter the CO2 removal unit. in this unit, an MDEA liquid will remove the CO2 gas from the natural gas stream. In general, there are 2 high vessels or columns which are the core part of this CO2 removal unit. On the left side, that is yellow is a CO2 absorber vessel. The function of this vessel is to capture or absorb CO2 gas from Natural Gas then CO2 gas will be carried by MDEA solution. MDEA solution which is rich in CO2 gas is channeled to the green right vessel. Here, CO2 gas[…]

Code, Standard and handbook in oil and gas industry

Code, Standard, and handbook are terms that are very often heard in the environment of Engineers and professionals working in the oil and gas industry. In general, the standard is a technical definition as well as instructions directed at the designer, manufacturer, operator or user of a piece of equipment. Whereas the Code is a standard that has been recognized by a government agency and authorized by law. So that the Code is stronger and binding because it is a legal document. The Handbook is very detailed and very complete technical information about a particular theme. For example, the ASM Handbook Volume 13 concerning corrosion. In the Handbook explained the basics of the theory of corrosion that is very complete. including the basic theory of how to measure corrosion rates in a laboratory. Whereas ASTM G102 is a Standard for Rates and Related Information from Electrochemical Measurements. If we want[…]

what are oil and gas facilities function?

what are oil and gas facilities function? there are many oil and gas facilities classification available. Some people classifying mechanical facilities into 2 large groups. Number one is Fixed equipment and the second is rotating equipment. According to this classification, mechanical engineer work in oil and gas company, sometime divided into 2 large group i.e mechanical engineer – fixed equipment and mechanical engineer – rotating equipment. Mechanical engineer- fixed equipment job is maintain the fixed equipment integrity, make sure the fixed equipment can be operated safely. these group also called as asset integrity engineer or mechanical integrity engineer. in opposite, mechanical engineer-rotating equipment job is maintain rotating equipment reliability.  This group is also known as Reliability engineer.   oil and gas facilities function- fixed equipment fixed equipment example are heat exchanger, pressure vessel, Boiler, tank, vent stack, stripper, column vessel, flare stack, vent stack, piping and pipelines. There are many[…]

Young, smart and diligent… fresh graduate engineer

fresh graduate engineer As long as I became an engineer, I was a mentor for 5 apprentices. 2 persons are already employed as engineers at an Oil and Gas Operating Company and 1 person working in an oil and gas Service Company. They got the job very easily, in a matter of months since graduating from college. They have the same characteristics. Young, smart and diligent. They have almost perfect academic score as fresh graduate engineer. The world of work is full of competition. Only people who are ready to face the competition will succeed. Wise man say “if you fail to prepare a job, you are preparing for the job’s failure“. And sad but true, your rival is waiting for you to fail. There are several criteria that need to be considered by students of mechanical engineering or other engineering in order to have an acceptable job opportunity when[…]
